ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCH & DESIGN, INC. (ERD)
Environmental
Research and Design, Inc. (ERD) was founded in 1986 by Dr. Harvey H. Harper,
P.E. as a water quality research and engineering firm. Work efforts at
ERD are devoted primarily to the areas of surface water and groundwater
quality, stormwater treatment, lake management and restoration, sediment/water
interaction, and sediment inactivation.
Field Expertise
ERD
maintains one of the most complete inventories of sampling and monitoring
equipment for surface water, stormwater, groundwater, rainfall and sediments
of any engineering firm in the Southeast. ERD also has shop facilities
for fabrication of specialized equipment to meet unique applications.
Laboratory Facilities
ERD maintains an in-house research-grade water quality laboratory, which is NELAC
certified (No.
E1031026) for general parameters, nutrients, heavy metals, demand parameters, and microbiological parameters. Additional equipment is available for water quality analyses, algal bioassays,
toxicity testing, jar testing, coagulation experiments, and sediment incubation/ release experiments. Since laboratory analyses are conducted only on surface waters and stormwater, laboratory methods have been optimized for low detection levels.
